Kok, Stelly Earn Super Region Selections
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Northeastern State University's Joe Kok and John Stelly have been named to the 2009 Football Gazette NCAA Division II All-Super Region Four football squad it was announced Wednesday.
Kok, 6-2, 220-pound senior from Broken Arrow, was named to the first team defense as a punter and Stelly, 5-10, 200 pound freshman from Hardin, Texas, was a second team fullback selection.
Kok averaged 42.3 yards on 71 punts last season for the RiverHawks. His longest punt of the season was 56 yards and he had 13 kicks of 50 yards or more. Kok placed 23 punts inside the 20-yard line during the 2009 season. Kok did not have a punt block last season.
Stelly, noted for his outstanding blocking at fullback, had five receptions for 48 yards for 9.6 yards a catch.
This is the seventh year Football Gazette has selected NCAA Division II All-Region Teams. The national publication, an authority on small college football, has selected NCAA Division II All-America teams since 1988.
The first and second team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2009 NCAA Division II Football Gazette All-America team will be named later this month.
