Cawyer was a part of two Conference USA Western Division championship squads at TU and made trips to the 2007 GMAC Bowl and 2006 Armed Forces Bowl.  After a redshirt season as a freshman, he played in all 14 games in 2007 and appeared in just two games in 2008. 

Cawyer had an outstanding prep career for the Tigers, where he was a four-time All-District selection, Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and senior and was an All-State selection as a senior. 

Cawyer is a health and physical education major.
