A letterman in football and baseball, Gray was the defensive MVP on the Lions baseball team as a freshman and followed as the offensive MVP as a sophomore.  As a junior, he earned All-State Honorable Mention honors.  Gray thrived as a senior for head coach Neal Bacon, he collected All-State accolades at linebacker, 2A-5 MVP, led team to the class 2A title game and was invited to play in the Oil Bowl.
