RiverHawks Rout Missouri Southern State
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Northeastern State pounded out 27 base hits, including four home runs en route to a 20-7 spanking of Missouri Southern State University at Joe Becker Stadium Tuesday in non-conference baseball play.
The RiverHawks improve to 17-27 on the season with the victory while the Lions fall to 170-20.
Northeastern State battered five Missouri State pitchers as Eric McKinney, Chris Gallegos and Taylor Clark hitting home runs. Gallegos knocked out two round trippers in the route.
The RiverHawks used six pitchers in the win with John Dean picking up his first victory of the season.
Missouri Southern held a 5-3 lead after three innings of play before the RiverHawks struck for seven runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth for a 12-5 lead.
The RiverHawks increased their lead to 15-5 with three runs in the seventh, before the Lions scored twice in their half of the seventh with NSU leading 15-7.
Northeastern then added three runs each in the seventh and eighth innings and two more in the ninth for the 20-7 final.
In the RiverHawks’ 27-hit barrage Noah Rigenberger went 2-for-5 at the plate with 3 RBIs, McKinney 3-for-4 with an RBI, GBallegos 4-for-5 and 5 RBIs, David Zavala 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and Cale Replogle with 3 hits in five plate appearances and 2 RBIs.
Chad Davidson also had 3 hits in four trips to the plate and Chris Sprick was 2-for-4.
