RiverHawks Sweep Eastern New Mexico
TAHLEQUAH , Okla. – Northeastern State pounded out 25 base hits and five home runs in sweeping a Lone Star Conference doubleheader from Eastern New Mexico 11-0 and 12-1 at Rousey Field Saturday afternoon.
The RiverHawks completed the four-game weekend series with Eastern New Mexico by winning all four.
The RiverHawks with the victories improves to 21-27 for the season and 18-22 in LSC play, while the Greyhounds are now 21-26 and 19-21.
Jason Travis went the distance in the opener for NSU picking up his first win of the season, allowing Eastern New Mexico just three hits. Travis struck out two and walked two.
Travis received offensive help in the form of home runs from Chris Gallegos, his 12th of the season, David Zavala, who hit two in four trips to the plate for three RBIs and Chris Sprick collected his 6th homer of the season. Gallegos went 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBIs
In the second game Josh Walker got the win, his fourth of the year as he had to go only seven innings in the run-ruled scheduled nine inning game. Walker, also tossed a 3-hitter, strikingout seven and walking just three.
Eric McKinney hit a solo home run, his 12th of the year and Cale Replogle connected for his second homer of the year, as he went 3-for-3 at the plate for 3 RBIs in the night cap.
The RiverHawks return to action on Tuesday with a non-conference game with Rogers State in Claremore.
