TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State University women's soccer team returned to campus Tuesday and kicked off its preseason training with a four-day stretch of intrasquad scrimmages, fitness testing and drills.
"We are looking forward to preparing for the season," Head Coach
Chase Wooten said. "Overall we have a really talented group."
The team will resume its regularly scheduled practices Monday. Northeastern State will begin its season with a home exhibition match against Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. August 30 at DeLoache Field.
"The returning players bring experience and gamesmanship to the team and we have a talented group of freshmen that offer athleticism and speed," Wooten said. "The challenge this season will be to marry those two groups and turn it into a successful season."
The RiverHawks closed their 2012 campaign with a record of 13-5-1 in the first season of MIAA play. NSU progressed to the semifinals of the MIAA Conference Championship but fell 1-0 to No. 12 University of Central Missouri.
