Davidson, Singleton Named Gold Glove Recipients

Two Northeastern State baseball players honored for stellar fielding

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. Chad Davidson and Kyle Singleton were honored for their stellar performances in the field this past season for the Northeastern State baseball team.
 
Davidson, a senior second baseman, and Singleton, a junior outfielder, were both named to the 2013 ABCA/Rawlings Central Region Gold Glove Team.
 
Northeastern State was the only school to place more than one representative on the nine-man team.
 
Besides leading the nation in home runs per game (0.34) and finishing fifth in the country in runs batted in per game (1.23), Singleton committed just one error all season to finish with a .994 fielding percentage.
 
He played both outfield and first base for NSU, and he finished the year with 141 putouts and 13 assists.
 
Davidson committed just four errors and posted a .983 fielding percentage. He recorded 129 assists and 103 putouts, while helping the RiverHawks turn 39 double plays.
 
Those selected to the Central Region Gold Glove Team are recognized as the top defensive players in the region for their selected positions. The nine recipients from the Central Region will now be eligible for selection to the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove national team, which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2013 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Tournament.
