2013 Don Hansen All-Super Region 3 Teams

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Langston Jones was named to the 2013 Don Hansen All-Super Region 3 Second Team, the organization announced Friday.
 
The senior linebacker for the Northeastern State football team was the leading tackler from Super Region 3 (for the second-straight year) by a 21-tackle margin. He finished fourth in the NCAA in both total tackles (141) and tackles per game (12.8). The versatile player also ranked 12th in the MIAA in tackles for loss (9.0) and 15th in pass breakups (8), while finishing with a pair of interceptions. He is fourth in career tackles (387) amongst all active Division II players.
 
He has also been named to the 2013 Daktronics All-Super Region 3 Second Team and the All-MIAA Second Team. This is the second-straight year Jones has been honored by Don Hansen, as he was named to the All-Super Region 3 Third Team a year ago.
 
Joining Jones on the Super Region 3 Second Team is fellow linebacker Bryce Atagi (Washburn), who was named to the All-MIAA First Team. Emporia State's Jordan Sanders, who was also named to the All-MIAA First Team, was not named to either the first or second Super Region 3 Teams. The all-conference awards are voted on by the league's coaches.
 
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-American teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
 
The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2013 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American team will be named in January.
 
A total of 110 players earned some form of Don Hansen All-Super Region Three honors. Players from 38 of the 47 football-playing schools in Super Region Three earned All-Region accolades.
